creswick is a modest rear addition to a double-fronted weatherboard house. The client brief included replacement of the existing lean-to that was in poor condition and the desire for the addition to be visually recessive from the street. The proposal maximises northern light on a small block and continues the exterior language of the original weatherboard house. Proposed areas include a kitchen-dining area as well as a living area separated by wooden centered doors off the main living space.  

The interior language and materiality includes a bright kitchen area with warmth brought into the living retreat through deep reveals and timber-framed rattan doors. A skillion roof maximises natural light as well as creating variation through interior living rooms. Aspect onto side and rear yard spaces varies between rooms, offering a diversity of outlook that belies the realities of a compact site.
